Water is unable to adhere to your coated surfaces instead, it forms droplets that effortlessly glide away.

The high breathability rating of our products allows water and moisture to easily escape from the masonry.

Dirt simply cannot cling to your masonry, ensuring it stays clean and visually appealing.

By reducing water absorption by over 93%, our solution ensures walls stay dry, leading to significantly less heat loss.

Before beginning any work, we conduct a detailed property survey and risk assessment. This is to evaluate accessibility and the extent of the work needed, ensuring a safe, efficient, and effective installation process.

The property undergoes a thorough jet wash in all areas of work to be undertaken followed by a biocide treatment. This process ensures a clean surface and guarantees a strong bond between the render and the coating.

We meticulously remove any damaged render and decaying brickwork, and all cracks are carefully excavated. For repairs, we use fiber-reinforced polymer cements, ensuring an optimal bond and blending the repair work with the existing structure.

This procedure involves safeguarding all doors, windows, paths, and adjacent areas not being treated. We accomplish this by meticulously covering them with masking tape, heavy-duty paper, polythene, and dust sheets. We take special care to protect driveways and neighbouring properties.

At this stage, we apply a highly penetrating primer and sealer that includes a built-in curing agent. This primer not only stabilises the substrate but also creates an ideal base for the finish or top coat. The final top coat then fuses with the primer, forming an exceptionally strong bond.

Our coating is applied with specialised airless spray equipment, reaching a thickness up to 20 times greater than that of standard masonry paint. We ensure a minimum of two coats optimal coverage. The textured finish not only conceals any repair work but also dries to a stunning, uniform finish upon completion.
ProPERLA® wall & roof coatings have been rigorously tested and certified by the UKAS accredited testing laboratory, Lucideon (No. 0013), to give you peace of mind.
Lucideon is an independent materials testing and analysis laboratory. Using their state-of-the-art facilities and scientific expertise, Lucideon can thoroughly test product performance and provide impartial results.
ProPERLA coatings have been tested for durability, thermal insulating properties, breathability and water repellency.
In 2018, ProPERLA wall coatings were independently tested by the UKAS accredited testing and analysis laboratory, Lucideon.
Lucideon’s world-leading testing and characterization laboratories enabled them to scientifically and impartially test ProPERLA wall coatings to ensure they are fit for purpose and conform to regulations.
Specifically, the tests were conducted to;
Determine performance after 25 years of accelerated weathering – On completion of the weathering test, the bricks coated with ProPERLA showed no deterioration either in performance or aesthetic appearance. There was no evidence of cracking, delamination or irreversible deformation. The coated bricks also showed no evidence of water penetration.
Test and analyse thermal insulating properties – Bricks coated with ProPERLA were more energy efficient than uncoated ones.
Thermocouples placed on the rear face of the walls showed that during the hygrothermal rain cycle, the uncoated wall showed, on average, an increase of 6⁰C of heat loss in comparison to the coated walls.
Test and analyse breathability – The uncoated wall had a mean SD value of 0.57, the same brick substrate when coated with ProPERLA Masonry Crème and ProPERLA Facade Coating gave SD values of 0.56 and 0.60 respectively, showing they had little effect on the breathability of the brick substrate.
Test and analyse the super hydrophobic (highly water repellent) properties of the coatings –The bricks coated with ProPERLA were able to repel water and reduce absorption.
Moisture content tests revealed that the uncoated bricks showed an increase in moisture by 11.12%, whereas the bricks coated in ProPERLA Masonry Crème only showed an increase of 0.41% and 0.74% for PropERLA Facade Coating.
This equates to reduced water absorption of 96.3%. for ProPERLA Masonry Crème and 93.4% for ProPERLA Facade Coating.
To determine the long term performance of ProPERLA roof coatings, the test roof frame was subjected to accelerated weathering correlating to 25 years exposure.
Placed within a hygrothermal chamber, the test roof panel was subjected to repeated heat-rain cycles followed by heat-cold cycles at controlled humidity to simulate naturally occurring conditions.
On completion of the weathering test, the test sample showed no evidence of deterioration such as cracking, delamination or water penetration, demonstrating a 25 year performance of both RENOTEC Roof Coating & ProPERLA Water Repellent.
In the water impermeability test, weathering had no adverse effects with the samples. which remained impervious to water after the 25 year weathering cycles.
The breathability of treated tiles was also found to be consistent with untreated tiles during the water vapor permeability test.

The ProPERLA range of exterior coatings is designed for high breathability, ensuring that they do not interfere with the substrate’s natural ability to ‘breathe’ even after application. This is achieved by not blocking the pores of the masonry with a thin film, unlike some other stone and brick sealing products. Water vapor permeability testing conducted according to BS EN ISO 7783:2011 standards demonstrated that the coating had minimal effect on the water vapor diffusion of the substrate. Furthermore, breathability ratings, identified by an ‘SD’ value, show that both ProPERLA Masonry Crème and ProPERLA Water Repellent have an SD value of 0.00, while ProPERLA Exterior Façade Coating (Colours) has a rating of 0.06, indicating that these products are at the high end of breathability ratings.
ProPERLA wall coatings have a proven lifespan of 25 years. They come with a manufacturer’s guarantee of between 10 and 20 years, depending on the specific type of coating. The ProPERLA Facade Coating, in particular, comes with a 10-year manufacturer’s guarantee and a 25-year lifetime expectancy. Additionally, it’s noteworthy that all ProPERLA waterproofing coatings have shown no deterioration in appearance or performance after 25 years of weathering. This longevity, combined with a substantial manufacturer’s guarantee, highlights the durability and reliability of ProPERLA wall coatings.
ProPERLA wall coating is technically more of a wall coating than a paint, as it provides protection for exterior surfaces beyond just changing the colour. While it can give a beautiful coloured finish, similar to paint, its primary function is to protect exterior surfaces. ProPERLA Facade Coating, for instance, is described as a super hydrophobic, breathable, and self-cleaning paint, but it’s important to note that its characteristics and functions extend beyond those of traditional paint. Properla coatings are specifically designed as an exterior wall coating solution, offering super hydrophobic properties to insulate properties and reduce water absorption into external walls, which distinguishes them from conventional paints.
ProPERLA wall coatings reduce heat loss primarily by improving the hygrothermal performance of the walls. The coating significantly reduces water absorption by up to 96.3%, which is a crucial factor in maintaining energy efficiency. When walls absorb water, especially from wind-driven rain, this moisture acts as a thermal bridge. This bridge facilitates the transfer of heat away from the property, thereby reducing the building’s energy efficiency and leading to increased energy bills. Independent tests showed that an untreated wall experienced, on average, a 6°C increase in heat loss compared to walls treated with ProPERLA. This difference underscores the effectiveness of ProPERLA coatings in enhancing a building’s thermal performance and reducing heat loss.
Employing a trained, professional applicator for this advanced coating system ensures comprehensive pre-application preparation and necessary repair work.
